About This Fund

Energise Me is delivering a Participatory Grantmaking pilot in Gosport. What this means is we’re putting decision-making back in the hands of those who know the local area best.

Twelve local people came together to form the panel and design this new physical activity grant. Shaping everything from the eligibility criteria to how funding will be allocated.

Get Going Gosport! is the result of six workshop sessions, led in partnership with Camden Giving, that were delivered to upskill the panel and support them through a decision-making process.

These workshops were part of our Place in Focus work, funded by Sport England Place Universal Offer. The Get Going Gosport! fund is funded by Energise Me.

What This Fund Is Here To Do

The aim of Get Going Gosport! is to support the residents of Gosport to know about, feel ready for, and participate in physical activity.

Eligibility Criteria

Who can apply?

The panel would prefer grantees to be already working in or familiar with Gosport, or demonstrate that they are the best organisation to deliver that work

We are welcoming applications from all organisation types. Such as:

  • Activity providers.
  • Not-for-profit organisations, community groups or clubs, charities and social enterprises.
  • Local organisations.
  • Individuals can apply but they will need to show how they can keep participants safe and put in place structures to assess and mitigate risk.

If you’re not sure if you’re eligible to apply, but you’ve got a brilliant idea, get in touch with Emma Dovener: emma.dovener@energiseme.org

Who should your project help?

Your proposed project should help one or more of the following groups:

  • Children with SEND
  • Neurodivergent people
  • Carers
  • People with experience of addiction
  • People with experience of mental ill health
  • People living in insecure/temporary housing

to access or participate in your/a physical activity offer.

You do not have to work with ALL of these groups.

What can be funded?

We’re looking to support projects that help one of the previously mentioned groups to become more physically activity. Funding can be used for ideas that fall into one of the following areas:

  • Physical Activity Delivery – This is when you’re directly providing opportunities for people to be active. For example, you may want to run a family sports activity or a walking group for people in recovery.
  • Physical Activity Pre-Delivery – This is about helping people feel confident and ready to participate in physical activity. For example, you might set up a “buddy scheme” so people don’t have to attend activities alone, or run confidence-building sessions to help people feel comfortable taking that first step.
  • Physical Activity Signposting – This is about helping people find or access existing opportunities to be active. For example, you might create a local noticeboard that highlights activities already happening in Gosport, or support local organisations to better promote their activities so people know what’s available.

Those are just a few examples. We know every community is different, so we’d love to see your own ideas for helping local people move more and be active.

What cannot be funded?

We’re unable to fund activities that are already covered by other funding (such as PE lessons, healthcare, or HAF holiday projects), one-off events, or costs that have already been spent. We also can’t support capital works, activities that promote religious or political beliefs, contingency costs or VAT you’re planning to reclaim, or projects that mainly benefit people living outside the Gosport area.

Expectations of Successful Applicants

Some reporting will be required, but it will be light-touch and flexible. We’ll want to know what you set out to do, what you achieved, and how and why you were able to achieve this. You could send us a report or book a video call with one of the team to tell us about it.

We will also be hosting a series of workforce development events throughout 2027 to support grantees. You’ll be expected to attend at least one of these, and we’ll work with applicants to design the most useful sessions we can.

We would also like the panel to be able to visit some projects if logistics allow!

Join Us For A Launch Event

We’re hosting two free, one-hour online sessions on Wednesday 24th June 2026 to talk through the Get Going Gosport! Fund. You would only need to attend one, but it’s a chance to learn more about the criteria and ask any questions you might have.

Sign up via Eventbrite.

How To Apply

You can apply for the Get Going Gosport! fund by either submitting a 3-4 minute video or by completing the application form below.

Video Submissions

If you choose to provide a video, please remember that it doesn’t have to be polished (although we do need to be able to hear you). We want to see real people and hear real voices, so please don’t use AI to create your video. You might show us the location of your proposed activity, or tell stories of the people who will benefit, but please refer to the questions on the application form to help shape the information you share.

Please submit your video by sending a WeTransfer link to: grants@energiseme.org

Form Submissions

If filling in the form, we don’t mind if you use bullet points, or if your spelling and grammar isn’t perfect. We want to get to know the real you, so please try to avoid using AI in writing your application (and please be honest if you do use it).

To apply, please complete this Microsoft form.

Deadline

Submissions are open from 15th June 2026 until 17th July 2026.

We hope to let you know the outcome in early September, but if we get lots of applications, we might extend this. We’ll let you know if we do!

We will give feedback to rejected submissions.

If you have any questions, or if there’s anything we can do to better accommodate your accessibility needs during this process, please get in touch with Emma Dovener: emma.dovener@energiseme.org

Timeline for Successful Applicants

Our learning shows that once an organisation receives funding, they usually need a bit of time to prepare, rather than launching into the project straightaway. If your project is successful, we’ll aim to get the funding to you by early October, but we don’t expect you to start delivery until January 2027.

If you’re ready to start delivery from October, brilliant, but we don’t expect you to start delivery until January 2027.

Meet the Panel

One of the key learnings from the Participatory Grantmaking workshops was that people often don’t know how funding is distributed and who makes the decisions.

With that in mind, we’d like to introduce you to the Get Going Gosport! panel.
