Networks and Groups

Find the support you need to create more active communities by joining one of our networks.

We have a number of networks and groups that meet online and in person helping to connect you to other people working across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. The groups cover insights, learning and share top tips with each other, and we often bring in guest experts to help you all progress your work.

If you’re interested in joining any of the below groups or networks, register your interest by filling out the form at the bottom of this webpage.

Support To Get Started

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight network of organisations that support people living with long-term health conditions to be active.

According to Sport England, 69% of people living with long-term health conditions would like to be more active. We know that physical activity benefits our hearts, bodies and minds, and together, we can help others reap those benefits. Whether you’re from a local authority, a leisure or community group, a health charity or working as an activity provider, this group is for you.

The network regularly meets online. Take a look at our events page for the next session.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Group

This network is for anyone working towards creating safe and accessible places to be active for everybody. The group meet both in-person and online, to discuss real life scenarios and support each other through experience and training.

Previous training has covered inclusive recruitment, working with neurodiverse people and transgender awareness.

Project 500

Project 500 is an online community for women in the sport and physical activity workforce in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Coordinated by our champions, they  facilitate training, learning and a private online community for female coaches and activity providers to access whenever they need it.

Walk Leaders

Organised wellbeing walks take place across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, with a variety of countryside walks and city strolls. These walks are led by Walk Leaders, a group of voluntary individuals who give up their time to lead on walks across the county. There are currently walks in all 14 different districts across Hampshire and Isle of Wight. However, Walk Leaders need support to continually improve the success of these walks through evidence informed approaches.

The Wellbeing Walks Network Group has been established by Energise Me, on behalf of Public Health Hampshire and Isle of Wight, to support Walk Coordinators to distribute information to local Walk Leaders, improving the success and sustainability of walks to combat physical inactivity. It brings together Walk Coordinators from across the county to inspire ideas, combat key challenges and grow walks to encourage more people to be physically active through walking.

The group work together to resolve challenges, share learning, and take part in training opportunities to grow and develop a wider, more diverse and informed workforce of Walk Leaders.

We Can Be Active Champions

Working across all areas in the physical activity sector, We Can Be Active Champions are a network of individuals who come together to share advice, ideas and knowledge to influence the We Can Be Active Strategy.

They are a group of people who are promoting and supporting people to become more physically active in their local communities.  Some deliver activity directly while others support those that do. Simply put, we couldn’t do it with out them!

Play Their Way

The Play Their Way national campaign aims to kick-start a movement of child-first coaches, organisations and people changing the game from the ground up. It aims to give children and young people a choice in their experiences of activity, create space for them to voice their wishes and enable them to take ownership of their development journey.

Play Their Way Hampshire and Isle of Wight is a localised online community, facilitated by Energise Me, where coaches can connect with each other, discuss best practice and share learning. New child-first coaching resources are regularly shared with the group by our ‘child-first coaching champions’ to keep improving coaching standards across the county.

Live Longer Better

Live Longer Better is the Hampshire campaign to help older adults stay independent, live life to the fullest and keep doing what they love. Staying active is one the most important things we can do to achieve this.

This network brings together like-minded individuals to hear from experts, identify priority areas and design a plan to work together to help local residents get more active.
