Water Wellbeing for Hampshire and Isle of Wight
Funding available to Pools for Water Wellbeing programmes

Funding from Sport England is helping us to focus our efforts to create lasting change in local communities by making it easier for people to be active.
Andover, in the northwest of Hampshire, is a town home to over 50,000 people. It has recently experienced lots of new development, with many families and young people living in and moving to the area. These new communities are building strong identities and networks around their places, and we want to support them to make sure an active lifestyle is part of this.
Sport England’s Place Needs Classification, which considers physical inactivity levels alongside social and health needs, highlights Newbury Road, Augusta Park, East Anton and The Enhams, and Picket Twenty and Picket Piece as places where change could have the most impact.
In Andover, we know there are already many organisations supporting families and children: like the council, schools, health services and local housing associations. We’re building on what’s already in place, working together so families get the support that suits them best.
Strong communities are already growing, especially in the new housing areas. We want the people living here to shape their own fun and active things to do. We will help fund community-led physical activity ideas and support people to keep them going

In each of our places we’re working with partners and the community to check and challenge our understanding of each place and use their feedback to shape the work.
