How to Be Active

How to be active will look different for everyone, and becoming more active doesn’t mean a big lifestyle change. Every move counts.

These are some of the things people tell us help them to be active:

  • Find something you enjoy! You may need to try a few different things at first but keep going – finding something you enjoy will help you stay active
  • Take small steps! If you’re new to activity, then take it at your own pace and be patient with yourself. You can increase your level of activity or the time as you progress.
  • Incorporate it into your daily routine – from taking the stairs to walking to work, you may not need to find extra time in the day for activity.
  • Make it social: Some people find being active with friends and family helps to motivate them.

We’re here to support and encourage you to be active in a way that’s right for you, no matter your starting point. Take a look at some of the different ways you can be active:

Supporting Others To Be Active

You can make a huge difference in people's active life.

If you're thinking about trying something new but you're unsure, just give it a go. It's not always easy walking into a room on your own so bring someone with you if you need to, even if they just sit and watch.
