The Hampshire School Games is one of our favourite events. Each year it’s full of fun, excitement, competition and inspiration.
The games provides us with a unique opportunity to help encourage more young people into sport. It’s designed to make sure that every school and every child has a chance to get involved – whatever their ability. For many young people, attending the games is the first time they will play at a countywide competition. This can often be the motivation for them to carry on with sport throughout school and beyond.

It was great to see so many young people participating in such a wide range of sports and enjoying being physically active.

It was with great disappointment that we had to cancel the 2020 annual Hampshire School Games, that was due to take place in Aldershot in June, due to COVID-19. We hope to be back to delivering a one day event again in 2021 but for now we have new and exciting plans to run a slightly different looking Virtual Games in the Autumn 2020 term, linking to the great work that the Hampshire SGO’s have been doing over the Covid-19 lockdown period.
The SGO’s have designed skill-based challenges in 9 sports/activities for schools to enter. Schools can choose to take part in all or just one sport. Activities are open to all year groups and schools can enter up to 3 teams.
During the Autumn Term, competitions will be offered in Sports Hall Athletics, Cross Country, Football, Table Tennis, Basketball, Badminton, Hockey Multi-Skills and Panathlon. Your school can complete the competition whenever you like during the term, all entries and results can be submitted on our website.
The virtual programme supports Level 0, Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 School Games provision for schools and can be used as evidence for School Games Mark applications next Summer! Prizes will be awarded to the top three school teams in each sport at both SGO area (Level 2) and County level (Level 3) and participation certificates will be sent to all schools who enter their scores in the relevant sports.
There are four PDF documents that provide all the details for the sport competitions that included in the Autumn Term Virtual Competition programme. These are available in the downloads section below.
