Hampshire School Games
The Hampshire School Games is one of our favourite events. Each year it’s full of fun, excitement, competition and inspiration.
The games provides us with a unique opportunity to help encourage more young people into sport. It’s designed to make sure that every school and every child has a chance to get involved – whatever their ability. For many young people, attending the games is the first time they will play at a countywide competition. This can often be the motivation for them to carry on with sport throughout school and beyond.
Hampshire School Games 2020
It was with great disappointment that we decided to postpone this year’s annual Hampshire School Games, which was due to take place in Aldershot in June 2020, due to COVID-19. However, we now have new and exciting plans to run a slightly different looking Games in the Autumn 2020 term, linking to the great work that the Hampshire SGO’s have been doing over the Covid-19 lockdown period. The event will take the form of an exciting multi activity event with schools selected by their local SGO taking into consideration their engagement with competitions, daily challenges and school games values. Once details are confirmed, they will be shared with everyone involved. We’ll also update this page with the latest information.
The School Games Organisers of Hampshire are running daily challenges and competitions. Check out the #HSGDailyChallenge.
During the month of May, there will be a 4-week programme of daily challenges linked to the sports played at the annual Games. Each week, challenges from two sports will be released. Also, for those pupils who are more creative, there will be a ‘Dance Challenge’ pupils can enter that runs for the first 3 weeks in May; the winners will be used for the closing ceremony of School Games Mark May.
