Activity Design

Support us

You have the potential to help save lives and reduce health costs in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight by £27.8 million. Will you support Energise Me to beat inactivity?

According to the World Health Organisation, insufficient physical inactivity is one of the leading risk factors for death worldwide.

We aim to end inactivity in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight and create a happier, healthier and stronger future for local people. But we can’t do it on our own.

Whoever you are and whatever you do, you can help us spark movement.

Inactivity is killing us. And in the meantime, it’s making us sick and unhappy. But the good news is, all of this is within our power to change.

Your help is urgent

The problem: One person dies of physical inactivity every 15 minutes (Moving Medicine). And common mental health problems are rising (NHS Digital).

The solution: physical activity reduces our risk of major diseases by up to 50% and our risk of depression and anxiety by up to 30% (NHS).

We urgently need your help to spread the solution.

I know doing activity makes you healthier but at the moment I don’t think I’m that bad, and it’s something I’ll start thinking about in the future.

What we need

We are fortunate to receive core funding from Sport England. So this is not your standard fundraising page. Instead we are asking you to help us advocate for active lives. Together, we can make it easier for everyone to be active. We need:

  • Individuals who aren’t active to tell us what needs to change
  • Individuals who are active to talk about the positive impacts of physical activity – in a way that is real, not airbrushed
  • Friends and family to support loved ones to move more
  • Health professionals to encourage patients to be active
  • Schools, businesses and charities to build physical activity into daily routines
  • Sports clubs and activity providers to work with us to welcome and support those who are inactive
  • Architects and planners to create spaces that inspire or enable movement
  • Policy-makers to prioritise physical activity

How you can help

Here are our top 5 ways you can help:

  • Move in a way that raises your heartbeat whenever you can
  • Support an inactive friend or family member to move more
  • Talk about physical activity everyday in person, on social media, and through any platforms that you have
  • Think of one thing your school or workplace could do to encourage movement and make it happen
  • Join one of our networks or work with us to change lives through physical activity and sport

The toolkits below can help you with all of this and more. But we also love a good chat. Get in touch to explore how we could work together.
