Hampshire School Games
2019 date announced – Thursday 20 (Primary) & Friday 21 (Secondary) June 2019
Location – Aldershot Garrison
The Hampshire School Games is one of our favourite events because each year it’s full of fun, excitement, competition and inspiration.
It’s a unique opportunity for us to help encourage more young people into sport. Building on the legacy of London 2012 and Rio 2016, it’s designed to make sure that every school and every child has a chance to get involved – whatever their ability. For some it’s the first time they play at a county level and this can often be the motivation for them to carry on with the sport through school and beyond.
After area rounds, the military facilities in Aldershot play host to the Games with around 3000 competitors taking part in a variety of sports – athletics to new age kurling to rounders and volleyball. Inclusivity is essential for us and there are lots of ways that children and young people with disabilities can take part – we run events for disabled young people including boccia, athletics and new age kurling.
At a national level, The School Games are backed by £128m of Lottery and Government funding, and supported by a range of Government departments and the Youth Sport Trust.
Additionally, we support a number of standalone branded Hampshire School Games events.
