Whiteley Retail Charity Back to Netball Festival still a hit 3 years on!
This year’s Whiteley Retail Charity festival raised a fabulous £924 for the Cash for Kids charity. Mixed teams from Tesco, Topshop and Whiteley Centre Management came together for the third year in a row and were joined by new teams from Five Guys and Specsavers.
Last year’s Runners Up Tesco were pipped to the post this year with Topshop winning a medal for the first time – just desserts for supporting the event since its inception.
The night belonged to the Whiteley Centre Management team though, winning the trophy for the second time in three years after finishing third at last year’s event.
The Back to Netball festival, supported by local Netball Development Community Coach Debbie Laycock, sees male and female staff members, friends and family take to the netball courts – many for the first time in a fun and friendly format. It’s seen as a great team bonding experience as well as worthwhile fundraising exercise.
Lisa MacGregor who helped organise the festival and played for the winning side said: “As always it was a really well organised and supported event. Lots of fun was had on the evening and a huge thank you goes to the amazing volunteer officials for their support and patience!”
She added: “Thanks also goes to the retail outlets who got involved and their organisers. We’re really pleased to support Wave 105’s Cash for Kids 1000 faces campaign. Thanks to Whiteley Shopping, Meadowside Leisure Centre, Frankie & Benny’s, Pizza Express, M&S, The Bodyshop, The Solent Hotel & Spa and Hair OTT for their extra support too”
