Research plays a huge part in our work to tackle inactivity. Understanding what prevents people from being physically active, how we can best support them, and who we can partner with to┬áspark change all requires research. It’s fascinating work and we welcome volunteers who are keen to develop research skills or just help out.

The aims of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Physical Activity Strategy underpin all of our research:

  • Accelerate the reduction of inactivity amongst adults
  • Reverse the rising trend of inactivity amongst females
  • Narrow the gap in levels of inactivity between those adults with (or at risk of) a long-term health condition and those without
  • Improve levels of physical activity amongst children and young people

From assisting with questionnaires to researching potential partners and inviting people to attend focus groups, your support could help shape future programmes and initiatives. It could help us evaluate and improve our offer for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

Ultimately you will be helping us change lives through physical activity and sport and build happier, healthier and stronger communities.

Does that sound like your kind of volunteering?
