New Forest Volleyball Club ‘Give it a Glow’ by hosting first Glow in the dark volleyball session
New Forest Volleyball recently held its first Glow Sports session. The event was held for its Satellite Club, at Noadswood School. The club leaders organised the session to promote the sport further and increase the number of pupils attending the club.
New Forest Volleyball encourages competitive sport but also sport that is fun and open to all. The Glow Sports session fitted both of these areas. The event ran from 3-5pm with the idea that pupils could turn up and play for as long as they liked. There was no obligation to stay for the whole session.
The main aim of this session was to increase engagement in the sport, hoping that it would encourage regular activity habits. Glow sports are a great way to ease people in to a new sport. It gives the opportunity for sport to focus less on competition and techniques and more on fun.
The event was a great success with 30 juniors from the school attending the session. Pupils were also given the opportunity to try their hand at table tennis. The pupils were engaged for the entire two hours and half a dozen new faces showed up to the event.
Energise Me provided all the equipment. The UV lights, music, glowing t- shirts and equipment transformed the sports hall and gave it a party-like atmosphere.
James Kemp, New Forest Volleyball – Club Chairman & President said:
“It was a wonderful event where all the students thoroughly enjoyed themselves! The equipment and clothing was awesome – especially the glow in the dark t-shirts! Thanks to Energise Me for putting on a great experience for our Satellite Club”
Satellite clubs give local sport and physical activity opportunities to young people. The needs of young people are the focus. The aim is to make it easy for young people to develop more regular activity habits.
