SUMMARY:We Can Be Active: Support To Get Started With A Health Condition
DESCRIPTION:Join the Hampshire and Isle of Wight network of organisations that support people living with long-term health conditions to be active.\n\n\nHear from experts at national charities and sports governing bodies\, who are supporting people living with long term health conditions\, to find ways to be active that work for them. \nThis event is for organisations delivering services across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight\, that are or would like to support members of the community living with a long-term health condition. \nWhether you’re from a local authority\, a leisure or community group\, a health charity or working as an activity provider\, this event is for you. \nAccording to Sport England\, 69% of people living with long-term health conditions would like to be more active. We know that physical activity benefits our hearts\, bodies and minds\, and together\, we can help others reap those benefits. \n \nHot Topics: \n•	Being active with Parkinson’s: How Parkinson’s UK is making it easier for people to find activities near them\, funding ideas and programmes for local communities\, and providing information and support to anyone struggling to get active. \n \n•	Southampton Sight: Offer a one stop hub for people living with sight loss. Whether that’s information\, advice or emotional reassurance to provide help and support to those who need it. \n \n•	Water Wellbeing: Swim England’s accreditation scheme and how you can get involved in the programme\, which now has over 150 accredited sites across the country. \n \nSee the full agenda above. \n \nThe We Can Be Active strategy states that we need opportunities that meet our needs and interests that are accessible and easy to find. And there are plenty of incredible organisations who are helping those with long-term health conditions to get active in a way that suits them. \nKeep making a difference to people’s lives by learning from the works of others\, expanding your knowledge on barriers that some may face and examples on how they can be overcome. \n \nIf you have any accessibility needs\, please contact james.platt@energiseme.org
