DESCRIPTION:About this event\n\n\n\n\n\nThis course\, hosted by Buddle (Sport England) will help you to understand the different barriers that people face\, broaden your reach to attract a diverse range of people and explore how you can create a positive environment to retain them. \nBook your free place on Saba. \nWhat will you achieve? \nBy the end of this session\, you will be able to: \n\nIdentify how your club or organisation can create a positive environment that enables a diverse range of people to be engaged and retained as participants and volunteers.\n\nThis might be the course for you if… \n\nYou’re part of a leadership team or committee.\nYou have a senior position (e.g. head coach).\nYou’re responsible for recruiting new members and volunteers.\nYou’re involved in supporting clubs or community organisations.\n\nHow much does it cost to attend? \nThe cost of this course is free. \nWho can attend? (Requirements) \nPeople that attend this course should: \n\nRepresent a club or community organisation based in England.\nBe at least 16 years of age.\nBe able to communicate effectively in English.\n\nWe do ask that upon registration\, delegates consent to the Delegate Agreement which can be found here (https://www.sportstructures.com/media/ehnnlvd4/buddle-delegate-agreement.pdf) \nTo access the course virtually\, you must have: \n\nAccess to a laptop/tablet. A smartphone is accepted but functionality may be limited.\nAccess to a positive learning environment with limited distractions\n\nIf you have any additional learning needs\, please let us know when registering so we can support you. \nHow is the course delivered? \nThis course will be delivered in a workshop format. This will involve a live virtual classroom facilitated by a Buddle tutor. The tutor will share information and there will be interactive ways to engage. \nFace to Face courses can be requested by partner organisations through our course organiser page. \nHow long is it? \nThe course lasts for a maximum of 1.5 hours. The session lasts approximately 1hour and will cover the Physical Activity Clinical Champions (PACC) Oncology slide set. \nWhat is PACC? \nThe Physical Activity Clinical Champions (PACC) programme provides free peer-led training and practical resources to support all healthcare professionals (HCPs) from hospital consultants through to community based practitioners to have more effective conversations around physical activity with their patients. \nWhat does the Oncology session cover? \n\nSetting the scene – Understand the current landscape for physical activity for patients\nEvidence-based benefits – The latest research on how physical activity can be beneficial for people living with cancer\nIdentifying barriers – Understand common barriers to engage in physical activity for people living with cancer\nAddressing risk – Understand how to consider risk in the context of physical activity promotion in oncology\nSupporting people to become more active – Develop understanding of behaviour change principles and how to have effective conversations\nSignposting – Find out more about national and local physical activity resources for people living with cancer.\n\nThe PACC programme is a Sport England funded project which is run by a consortium consisting of The Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre at Sheffield Hallam University\, Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine UK and Intelligent Health.
