SUMMARY:Physical Activity Clinical Champions Training
DESCRIPTION:An opportunity to access evidence-based resources proven to increase knowledge and support clinical practice.\n\n\nFor healthcare professionals only. \n \nSupporting healthcare professionals to improve patient care and outcomes.\n \nAround 1 in 3 men and half of women are not achieving recommended levels of activity for good health\, with people with long term conditions twice as likely to be amongst the least active. Physical activity is incorporated across NICE clinical guidance\, with evidence suggesting 1 in 4 people would be more active if advised by a GP or nurse. \nHowever\, 70-80% of GPs do not speak about the benefits of physical activity to patients. This can be associated with knowledge\, skills and confidence gaps across HCPs. For example\, a survey of 1\,000 GPs found: \n• Less than half (44%) of GPs are confident speaking about physical activity with patients. \n• Over half (55%) of GPs had had no specific training on physical activity in patient care. \n• 4 in 5 (80%) of GPs not familiar with the UK Chief Medical Officers’ guidelines. \n \nBenefits of training\nAttending this FREE online training provides the opportunity to: \n• Access evidence-based resources proven to increase knowledge and confidence\, and support clinical practice in line with guidance (e.g. NICE). \n• Improve management and care of patients with 30+ long-term conditions (e.g. CVD\, type 2 diabetes\, depression\, MSK issues\, some cancers). \n• Help reduce service demand and costs i.e. the £0.9bn annual cost to the NHS associated with insufficient physical activity. \n• Hear local links to signpost to physical activity and resources to use when working with patients to discuss moving more. \n \nThe evidence\nOver 25\,000 HCPs have been trained so far. An independent evaluation demonstrated improvements in participant knowledge\, confidence and frequency of patient physical activity conversations: \n• 84% agreed the training was useful in their work \n• 91% would recommend the training to their colleagues \n• 40% of HCPs were having more conversations with their patients about physical activity post-training \n \nThe PACC programme is a Sport England funded project which is run by a consortium consisting of The Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre at Sheffield Hallam University\, Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine UK and Intelligent Health.

An independent evaluation demonstrated improvements in participant knowledge\, confidence and frequency of patient physical activity conversations: \n• 84% agreed the training was useful in their work \n• 91% would recommend the training to their colleagues \n• 40% of HCPs were having more conversations with their patients about physical activity post-training

SUMMARY:Supporting others to Live Longer Better
DESCRIPTION:Join Us to learn more about supporting your ageing communities.\n\n\nThe number of older adults is increasing significantly however with little increase in healthy life expectancy in prospect. This has huge implications for health and social care services. It doesn’t have to be this way. The evidence is strong that we can reduce the risk of falls\, prevent and delay dementia\, disability and frailty. \nGetting older is something to be celebrated\, with better health care and medicine we can live longer. There is a greater understanding of the impact that healthy lifestyles at all ages can have on our health and wellbeing later in life. \nLive Longer better Hampshire aims to help older adults and thier families find ways to stay independent\, live life to the full and keep doing what they love. In this short information session we aim to share more about the Hampshire Live Longer Better Programme and how as health providers you can support your community.
