Getting active and energised at work is the best way to get your business and its employees happier, healthier and more productive through a varied programme of physical activity. It doesn’t always have to be the obvious choices either – some people love to do a lunchtime run, while others might treat themselves to a massage or some yoga. Whatever you choose, it’s all about making a positive change to the way you fit physical activity in at work.

Workplace Challenge

Workplace Challenge was launched in 2014 by Sport England. It’s a national initiative that’s organised by Energise Me on a local level in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Behind it’s creation was the goal to inspire workers and teams to be more active in and around their working day – you spend more time at work than you do at home, so why not bring a bit of fun and fitness into your days?


Research done by the British Heart Foundation National Centre for Physical Activity and Health shows that workplace activity doesn’t just have a positive impact on individuals but on your business as a whole. In workplaces that were more active they noticed that there was:

  • Significant increase in physical activity
  • Better mental health
  • Reductions in sickness absence and presenteeism
  • Supportive and encouraging relationships between colleagues
  • Better motivation, communication and interaction amongst teams
