Our Board of Trustees oversee the charity and accept ultimate responsibility for shaping the direction of Energise Me. They make sure we’re well-run and delivering the outcomes we’ve set out to achieve.
The charity also has an Advisory Panel that supports and guides the Trustees to ensure that we meet the needs of our partners and stakeholders as well as the business itself.
The Board of Trustees brings together a group of individuals with skills and expertise from different sectors that bring the necessary skills and experience to govern Energise Me.
Jon Monkcom (Chairman)
Chair, Wessex Group
Jon knows a thing or two about how businesses should run – he qualified as a chartered accountant with KPMG and set up the Wessex Group in 1992, a business that provides bespoke solutions for some of the UK’s leading insurers.
In the past, Jon has taken on a varied range of non-executive Director roles – for the Theatre Royal Winchester, the Hampshire Voluntary Housing Association and a digital arts organisation. In his spare time, Jon is also involved with the Kingsgate Tennis Club in Winchester.
Managing Director, Court & Spark Consulting
Claire has several years’ commercial experience working for a number of fashion retailers including Marks & Spencer, Arcadia, Laura Ashley and New Look. In 2004 she founded court & spark consulting, a specialist executive search firm for the fashion retail sector.
She manages to find time to be active, enjoying a variety of sports and activities. She ran the London Marathon (slowly!) in 2005 and 2006 raising money for the Retail Trust where she was a Trustee at the time.
Claire has always played social tennis and is a keen swimmer and hopes to begin open water swimming to take advantage of life on the Isle of Wight. Dog-walking is also proving to be a great excuse to explore the Island.
Claire is also a Trustee of the Donor Conception Network and a parent governor at her son’s school.

Dr Paul O’Halloran
GP partner, Sutton Scotney
Paul is a GP partner, living and working in Hampshire. He has been working in Sutton Scotney for the last 10 years, having previously worked in Andover. These roles have given him the opportunity to improve the health of his patients. He is a GP trainer, GP appraiser and sits on the Wessex GP tutor group. Paul is also the Primary Care lead for the Wessex Strategic Clinical Network for diabetes. Paul hopes to bring health knowledge to the Energise Me board. In his spare time, he is a keen cyclist and sees the health benefits of activity in the lives of all people.
Steven is a Chartered Management Accountant and an experienced business consultant, working with a range of public and private sector clients to implement large change programmes within their organisations.
Steven has a great deal of experience as a Trustee having served on the Board of one of the first sports clubs to move to CIO status. More recently, Steven has served as a Trustee for a CIO that supports and promotes community participation in healthy recreation and the arts.
A Saints football fan, Steven enjoys watching them play as well as volunteering with their community foundation.
Director, Cheeky Rascals
Selina built her business, Cheeky Rascals whilst living and working as a new mum in France. She realised there were lots of innovative products that new mums wouldn’t be able to get hold of in the UK. She began sourcing them for other new parents, and she soon found it grew into a business. Having started with a van, and a handful of leaflets, Cheeky Rascals now brings products from across the globe back to the UK for customers to buy through their network of retailers.
With such a successful business behind her, Selina’s expertise and knowledge are widely recognised across the nursery industry. She sits on the board for the Baby Products Association (BPA) and is also part of a European Working Group for Child Safety Standards.
Her approach really fits with the Energise Me ethos and even with a busy work life she manages to fit a lot into her spare time. She loves playing squash and also spends time with her family doing lots of outdoor activities – everything from cycling and surfing to canoeing and skiing.
Headteacher, Chawton C E Primary School
Dawn has taught in Hampshire for over 11 years. She became Headteacher of Chawton CE Primary School over 2 years ago. Dawn firmly believes in coaching, mentoring and teamwork to bring out the best in people. Her lifelong love of netball will have contributed to the confidence that used in the right way, an individual’s and team’s performance can be improved.
